Max Jacobs is a PhD Candidate in Educational Theory and Policy at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education. He studies the historical and philosophical foundations of education in the United States, his current dissertation project focuses on the origin and development of carceral education in the state of Pennsylvania, 1820-1860.
